Volunteering on the farm is a great way to learn more about the work it takes to produce sustainable food and spend some time connecting with the land and people that grow it.

We host weekly drop-in volunteer sessions through the summer and fall season. During volunteer sessions we do field tasks such as weeding, harvesting, bed prep, composting, and transplanting. We are a busy working farm and we kindly ask that volunteers be committed to working hard (and having fun!) while here. We are more than happy to answer questions and share knowledge with you as we work together. We welcome volunteers of all abilities and recognize that people will move at different paces, we just ask that you are present, having fun, and doing your best while you work with us. We are happy to answer questions and help you learn while we work together.

If you’re interested in helping out and exploring where your food comes from, send Gemma an email at: gemma@zaklanheritagefarm.com to sign up for a volunteer session.

 More Committed Volunteer Opportunities

If you are looking to volunteer in a more committed capacity than the drop in sessions we are open to discussing this with you. In the past we have had volunteers wanting to learn to farm coming to volunteer with us regularly for the duration of the season. We have also hosted students fulfilling practicum hours for school courses at our farm. In these cases it can be full days and times other than the drop in sessions listed above. We are particularly interested in regular, committed harvest day volunteers on Wednesdays. For committed volunteers who are eager to learn about small-scale intensive farming we are very happy to host you as a volunteer and pass on the knowledge we have gained over years of farming. We always send volunteers home with lots of delicious produce! Please contact gemma@zaklanheritagefarm.com and let us know a bit about yourself and what you are looking for in a volunteer position with us.
